Commonly we hear the world refer to living our lives with a focus on mind, body and soul. I completely agree with this categorization. However, Building the Best Version of You, there is a bit more to life than just mind, body and soul. Let’s be real! You can’t live life without money and to have money you must have a career or business. Therefore, I look at life’s all-encompassing categories a little differently. My categorical scheme includes mind, body and soul, with a lot more added to truly ensure you can make your dreams of success, strength and happiness a reality. To “Building the Best Version of You,” I categorize life into four priorities. When establishing goals ensure that these four areas are front and center in your planning effort. Let’s take a closer look at these priorities to understand what each truly includes.
Finances
- Budgeting
- Savings
- Expense management
- Investments
- Multiple sources of income
- Debt
Poor financial management practices have ruined individuals and many relationships. It saddens me to say, and it’s unfortunate, but this world revolves around money. The sooner you make it a priority and manage it effectively, the better you will sleep at night.
Career/Business
- Climbing the ladder
- Maneuvering through the political landscape
- Managing perception
- Performing at a superior level
- Owning your own business
- Juggling a fulltime job with a side business
- Continuous education to develop your knowledgebase
Since you spend so much time working, why not get the biggest bang for the buck and excel in your professional world.
Relationships
- Spiritual
- Family
- Spouse
- Colleagues
- Friends
- Partnerships
It’s easy to lose sight of your family and your spiritual obligations, while focusing on more exciting areas like money, power, immorality and material possessions. Don’t go there!
Health
- Exercising daily
- Weight management
- Eliminating bad habits (smoking, drinking, etc.)
- Having an endless supply of positive energy (mental and physical)
To be ultra-productive you need to be in good mental and physical condition. Managing your health seven days a week is a must, not only for energy, strength and well-being but also because it helps individuals who suffer from high anxiety or depression. Very few things are as impactful as the rush one attains after a great workout!
There are many ups and downs in life. If you’re not proactively focusing on the above areas equally, you are destined for an emergency crash landing with little to no chance of survival. So, before you go down such a path of self-destruction, listen to someone who has been there. Stop ignoring the four most important areas of your life before it’s too late for redemption!
